Generally speaking (and are there any notable exceptions?) do most colo facilities allow you to mount machines/ equipment front and back of a quarter/ full cabinet if required, assuming the depth is available. What depth is a 'standard' colo rack - 800mm? is 1000mm common?

I realise this might disrupt hot isle / cold isle schemes, but basically we have a chance to buy some shallow (ie not deep!) 2U servers in place of 'full depth' 1U pizza boxes.

Any thoughts / observations? All welcome as ever...
