The domain is registered to the client.
Its a .eu.com
So it may have to be a rebuild of the site.

I was thinking that maybe if the client set up a new hosting package with the same host they could transfer his site to this but the hosting company doesn't even want to talk to the client.
After days waiting for a reply to his ticket he phoned a few times explained the situation but got these emails.

to ****** direct as we are not the registrar for this domain.
Please do not call again.
