New OS X
Has anyone got the new OS X? It looks as sexy as hell on the video demos - but does it actually work as well as they say it does?
Especially Time Machine - that looks great.

I've been using Leopard (10.5) since it was released - it is definitely an improvement over Tiger IMO (especially the changes to the finder).
Time Machine seems to work - nothing has broken yet so I haven't been able to test it yet but it's been happily backing up as it should.
I've also been playing with Leopard Server for the last few days as we may be deploying it for a client, it's pretty cool as well.

I've been pretty impressed with it on my friends new MacBook. Impressed with the MacBook too, actually. I really like having the stacks, and Web Clips are really useful.
Shame it's not my computer, really

:> I've just got to save up some money for a decent imac/macbook.
Course the problem with getting a macbook is that i'd want the pro for the screen size - and the cost that goes with it.

My pro should be here this week... 2.6 C2D, 2Gb RAM, 200Gb 7200 HD, 17" Hi Res Glossy Screen - should be good but for the money it should be.
I've got an 24" iMac on my desk, which is looks great and performs nicely - great if you don't need to move things around.

I've used Leopard and Tiger, and there's nothing in Leopard which make me think it's worth the £129 upgrade price (5 machine license). As such I'm sticking with Tiger, it works well and I've not had any issues. I love the fact holding down the play button on the included remote puts your computer to sleep.
Only draw back I've found is finding KVM over IP devices which work with Mac and in themselves work well

I dont see a difference. My Macbook runs slower and has more bugs. The latest one to strike is the keyboard randomly deciding not to work, which is a serious pain in the arse.

Yea, someone else mentioned that issue to me, ain't had it yet myself. I haven't really had any issues on my MacBook, but it is definitely a bit less responsive.

It's the same with every OSX. Upgrade and your farked, do a fresh install and you should be fine......
I'm pissed with my Macbook. Its not even a year old and it's already more ****ed than my previous 2.5year old powerbook and i treated that thing even worse. The black matt finish is completely shitted up, i've got dead pixels, dust behing the LCD, the thing creaks like an old rocking chair and thats just the start!

I just got a MacBook - I have mixed feelings so far - the worst probably being that is doesn't work with my printer - I *really* miss not have a HOME/END/DEL keys as I use these alot while typing/editing - I also miss PG DN/PG UP - but I *may* get used to that or find work arounds...

I see this too, although mine is only for 1 or 2 hits and is usually the full stop that is totally missed, and it's not just my typing as others that have used it have the same problem.

Yes - fn + Up and Down arrows for page up and down. Home and end are on left and right respectively.
