Fibre Channel SAN

Hi All

Does anyone have any suggestions for a supplier for a complete set up?

- Redundant RAID 10 arrays that can mirror each other
- Redundant Fibre switches
- Dual port HBAs
- Redundant failover paths
- Redundant PSUs
- Lots of other redundant stuff

up until now we've used Sun but we're looking at alternatives now

We use HP EVAs for SAN requirements, iirc via CompuSolve whose engineers take care of the installation / setup etc..

Do you want to mirror an array within the same SAN, or on to a separate SAN? (£30k just for the software license here, let alone the cost of the other SAN!)

We also use HP EVA SAN for our VM clusters.

same SAN, seperate array with auto-failover of the arrays... have it working perfectly on a couple of older sun setups with T3 arrays

Ok, thats $$$ as mentioned, HP charge £30k for the software alone to allow this, let alone the cost of the Cabinets / disks and shelves themselves..

I'd say you're looking well over £60k new.

I'm in the IBM camp on this one with the DS4[37]00 and shortly a shark

Never had any issues with it whatsoever, and when we've needed to get some advice about the best way to do something, IBM are always willing and helpful letting us speak to their pros who live in small rooms
