any webhosts have open API's ?

Hi

We are a web development company in the UK.

We need a webhost that has an API we can integrate into so we can automate stuff and allow customers to purchase things without our involvement BUT with our branding

We ideally want to use them for email too
The API should be able to allow editing/adding/deleting of email addresses

We've found 1 host in the UK (fasthosts) but they have loads of hidden costs and its working out to be really expensive so now we are looking to other countries for a provider

Ideally we'd get a reseller account that does windows hosting (asp.net) and also the API would be a .net API

If you know of anything that is suitable then please let me know as i'm struggling to find anyone.

Uk is prefreble, but if not another country will do.

There are a couple of companies, specifically for reselling for large companies/ISPS and so forth that do have API's. I cant put my finger on the name just now but i know there are two big names in the hosting outsourcing game that have comprehensive API's but the are expensive as i recall.

Any Plesk provider running Plesk 8.x can be integrated with via an API if they enable the feature for your login, it's safe for the provider to do. You can use .net for that (or any other scripting which works with XML-RPC).

We can do this for no extra charge on our London based Windows platform. Its not a specific .Net API, but its a very easy-to-use HTTP GET\POST system - chris.byrd /@/ openhosting.co.uk

There seems to be a bit of choice, and if you are a company feel free to tell me all about what you have as this is the point in this thread.

I ideally want this:
.net framework 2 API
roaming smtp (smtp.mydomain.com)
ability to buy/renew domain names via API (possibly with recurring payments)
ability to manage email accounts via API

Please let me know if there are any other companies other than fasthosts that do all of this

We have systems that can meet all your requirements...
* API to our Plesk(windows) and/or Helm (windows) systems for setup of hosting, emails, etc.
* API for domains in (current version is quite basic .ASP) a much improved version will be launched shortly

Depending on your exact requirements and budget something specific can be built for your needs.

Anyone with Plesk/Helm 4 and a half decent billing platform I would expect. Plenty of excellent hosts here. I would recommend these guys over 'large brand' suppliers any day ;-)
