Thread: New Starter Business Advice

  1. #1
    Hey Guys,

I'm about to start offering web space and integrated web solutions in the next few weeks. Initially I will only be offering this service to local businesses and as such I think I can get away with handling payments by cash/cheque. My questions are

    1) I need a bank account into which to pay the customers cash/cheques. I would much prefer an account in the name of my company as it is more professional. Is this possible?

    2) Do I need to inform the tax man or companies house or anything to begin with? I don't expect to be making much money to start with - I don't expect to earn anything like £4K a year so does the tax man need to know at all?

    3) What other things should I consider from a business perspective?

    Thanks for any help.

    1. Yes...definately...open an account with a local bank....if you're a sole trader just open it as Your Name T/A your preferred company name

    2. if you're a sole trader you'll still need to declare it on your tax returns....

    3. far too open a question Make sure your business plan is realistic and get some advice from your local startup organisation!

Thanks for your help guys. I'll probably drop into my local business link and see what they advise.
