copyrighting advice.

hi,

i have started to make a website/podcast/radio station that showcases dance music that people send in to us (made by themselves).

we do a weekly chart ect, so how can i make sure that noone can legally rip the music that we showcase from the podcasts and shoutcast radio station, and remix them ect?

I don't think you can. All you are really going to be able to do is ensure that the relevant copyright notices are displayed/mentioned for each piece of music that you play. Bear in mind that the artists themselves are responsible for the copyright, not you (as you aren't the owner/creator of the music).

ok, so if we make sure that all of our clients copyright their own music and put up the relevant notices, then as a company we wouldnt be to blame if anything got stolen or remixed ect?

IANAL, so take the advice with a pinch of salt, but thats what i'd do. Oh, and i'd put it in your terms and conditions somewhere, ie. that you are not responsible for any music being ripped from your podcast and used in other situations.
