    cPanel API Integration

I'm doing some work with cPanel integration but their API seems fairly limited, certainly when you compare it to the standard functionality. A workaround seems to make http calls directly to the relevant scripts. I'd be interested in hearing how other people interface cPanel from their own systems.

What specific items are you struggling with? From memory I thought the API was fairly complete - although I guess that depends on if you're using the remote API or the local one, as AFAIK they have differing levels of funtionality.

A number of tasks really, changing ownership, adding parked domains etc - I've figured it out though. I didn't realise you could access API2 functions through the XML API which offers a whole host of functionality.

I'm actually trying to evaluate whether its worth integrating cPanel (and whatever else) with current systems or look at using WHCMS - which seems to be very popular. I know WHCMS supports integration but was concerned about the number of layers I'd end up with. On the flipside, I dont want to have to go through the whole exercise again if cPanel changes to Plesk, to DirectAdmin or whatever..

Improved documentation for our APIs is something we are currently working on. In the meantime, if anyone needs help with our APIs, just let me know.

Calling the scripts is fine for us, if the script does what you need. It certainly simplifies development.

The problem with that is that the scripts aren't a fixed and documented API, so if cPanel change the way that they work between releases then your applications could break.

I used to use the scripts but found it limiting probably because there wasnt any documentation of them as far as I was aware of. XML API is pretty easy to use once you figure it out though and looks like they have added some new features recently and improved documentation so thats definitely the way to go.
