Webmail is a great idea because many people always want to check their email even when they aren't at their own computer.

WebMail is (in my mind) simply an extension of what the net is about - access what you want, where and when you want.

If you don't offer webmail then you're gonna be dead in the water, more and more customers ask about webmail, loads of ours use it, heck I even use it sometimes if I haven't got my laptop or PDA with me.

i agree with mark. Webmail is not a luxury, its a necessity. Everyone will use it at one time or another, even the pros. For the average user, its definately a must have.

I agree as well,
Which webmail software do you use?
For speed and simplicity, we currently use NwebMail
however we are Beta testing a much more feature rich product.

We use IMP mail because it comes with Plesk. I will take any suggestions about a new more featured system.

its a worthwhile add on for hosts but is also well overabused...
we have customers who dont use POP any more because of it and as webmail isnt 100% reliable ( easily crashable ) it really shouldnt be relied on as a POP alternative!
Cheers,

As I said we use IMP mail because it comes with Plesk. However I find that it sucks and has a bad interface. Anyone got any other suggestions?

Using openwebmail on some Raq3's - nice interface seem sto work well.
Have our own "mini" webmail in perl, using 3rd party attachemnt script (rarely used) with "minimalist" interface and options - perfect when out & about with the laptop.
We view webmail as an intrinsic part of what we're trying to offer - the ability for the 'net technology to work for *YOUR* business - people _do_ want to read/reply to their email from 'net cafe when on a long weekend in Dublin, or snatch 5 minutes of idle chat when the firewall opens up
Webmail is just another selling point of the email(pop) hosting or full hosting packages.

I think Webmail is needed as I often get annoyed having to type details into mailstart.com while I'm away from the PC.
I personally use IceWarp now (just because it works with Merak Mail and wasn't that expensive) although I have written my own before.
