    Best AS Path to Bangladesh

We need to find the lowest latency path to 27.147.217.82 in Bangladesh from London Sov

currently our network routes this over Cogent which is very poor

Try HE, although there not natively in SOV, they do offer full transit routes over LINX I believe

telia.net seems good on latency of 164ms and they are in SOV. Any good to get a transit feed from?

He.net do not offer general transit over LINX! They often offer V6 only Transit over it though. He.net are absolutely inappropriate here. The RTT for that /32 route is almost 100ms greater than Telia!

OP, Telia are perfectly good to have in a BGP mix and yes are on net in SOV. Pricing may be (slightly) higher and possibly time to turn up may be (slightly) longer than you're used to. For example, I assume you only want minimal bandwidth? If so expect to get quoted something around $320/mo for 100meg on 1G 1Yr.

In the meantime check if BGP is really selecting the best route, IME Cogent are rarely the best route outside of thier own customers so if you have another transit feed it will probably be better! Do a ping+trace to that address on one of your border routers changing the source IP/interface

checked our other transit provider and they also hand-off to cogent

Do you have any contact details for telia in the UK?

In terms of HE, am I missing something, my Traceroute shows their latency as 187ms and OP quotes Telia at 164 which is far from a 100ms difference.

And in terms of across an exchange, HE will give full IP transit free of charge across linx, however they will sell you transit handed off over an exchange. I was quoted $400 for 1gig usage over an exchange, with burstable upto my exchange port speed.

Not sure what their pricing would be like for 100mb but there worth speaking to!

If you need guaranteed latency to somewhere like that, you probably need to look at getting a 'proper' circuit (ie: someone that can get you to the country with some SLA on latency etc..)

Remember, people will change their routing on the fly dependant on utilisation, cost, fibre breaks and whole multitude of other factors

You are quite right, that will teach me for not reading properly! Although your trace stops one hop before the final destination. Yet from HEX:
    Code:
    1 23 ms 87 ms 12 ms 184.105.223.254
    2 25 ms 45 ms 31 ms 184.105.222.22
    3 155 ms 196 ms 202 ms 184.105.65.13
    4 217 ms 195 ms 217 ms 27.111.229.88
    5 279 ms 236 ms 260 ms 103.9.104.86
    6 260 ms 222 ms 265 ms 103.9.104.66
    7 290 ms 221 ms 251 ms 103.9.104.122
    8 232 ms 245 ms 238 ms 203.76.104.89
    9 260 ms 240 ms 261 ms 203.76.104.90
    10 * * * ?
    11 241 ms 246 ms 230 ms 203.76.104.38
    12 223 ms 246 ms 256 ms 27.147.217.82
Agreed that of course, a MPLS VPN with a latency guarantee is much preferable, but we all know how money and time consuming that is likely to be.

Regards Telia, yes no doubt I can dig some details out but maybe just try the normal sales channel first?
