Thread: Search engine placement

I think this would qualify as a technical issue but how many of you pay a great deal of attention to search engine placement of your hosting site and actively aim at certain keywords?

How much success have you had? Any secret tips you'd like to share?

I've just noticed that we're top of Googles list for 'uk based webhost' and 25th for 'uk webhost'... worth cracking open the champagne? I've got my eye on top spot for 'uk webhost' though. Somehow I think not

We're coming top on google for "business class hosting" - which was intended. Strangely though it's on the www.securahosting.com domain and not www.businessclasshosting.com which was also submitted.

Type "premier web host" into google, and we will pop up - however looking at the stats, peeps have been typing in some pretty wierd stuff to get to us hmy:

Wow, that's pretty impressive to get top out of all those reults...

Results 1 - 10 of about 891,000.

doing a lot of it as well at present ...

I have

10th on "uk web host" on google
7th on "web host uk" on google

3rd on "find next uk host" on google

And you've got 1, 2 & 3 for "uk host chat" with Andrew in 4th

lol, that would be my exit page to WHC thats doing that........ I should be elsewhere in there too from my links with hostchat.co.uk

LOL - we get the no. 1 spot if you type in "dc-hosting"

Funnily enough though - YourNextHost has the number 2 spot for this search!

we come 5th if you type "AGCC" :angry:

# 1 for "fast reseller services"
# 1 for "reliable reseller services"
# 1 for "plesk reseller services"
# 3 for "fast shared hosting"
# 11 for "plesk reseller"
# 19 for "plesk reseller hosting"

But we too tend to get more hits from obscure searches ....

p.s. do you find that google results vary dramatically from day to day? e.g. #1 one day, #97479 next day.... then #1 again day after that??
