Ours do that, but there is an override switch customers can use if they are working on the data floor for extended periods of time.

In fairness Teledata do this as well (maybe it's more like 30 minutes though) but they have enough sensors / in the appropriate places that the lights don't turn off when you're in there like that. It actually works really well, and from what I understand also saves more power than you might expect.

PIR lighting seems a waste of time/money. Link it to the door controller. If everyone is required to fob in and out you know if the room is empty...

Then you need anti-tailigating stuff (mantraps etc.) on each door surely?

It assumes you have "1 light" per room. What if your room is big enough to split into lighting sectors? You might have 50 lights and only need 10 of them switched on to support the 1 person working in there at the time?

To be fair a polite reminder (and notices) telling people if they don't fob in and out they will be plunged into background lighting seems to work fine. Double edged benefit... Although it doesn't go pitch black, just drops to exit lighting only

Yes I grant you if you have tens of rack rows per room or very long rows there is mileage - however you can't turn off exit route lighting under PIR control without having background lighting in the first instance so at the very least you have the route to the door, plus the row you are in lit. I guess this really depends whether you've got 50 racks per suite or 500

I have tried it in the past when I have been too lazy to go and override the lights to stop them turning off on me and worked for a few mins until I needed to actually see what I was doing

It works fine, right up until you fall over a trolly that someone has left lying around!

Does no-one else just flail their arms around frantically until the lights come back on? That always works for me.

Failing that, I throw things around the room until I trigger the sensor.
