At the very least I'd be looking to make the BGP fee go away - there's no excuse for that!

that's what i asked for. but they refused and said on all contract renewals. Everyone will be charged for BGP.

They claim that alot of Transit providers now charge for BGP

We renewed our contract recently and aren't being charged for BGP.

I've used several tier 1 and 2 providers over the years and I've never been charged for BGP. If anyone ever tries it, they will be dropped on the spot!

Surely BGP is a fundamental part of the service, not an optional extra!

I've managed to get a better deal.

Cogent have said they need to keep the BGP fee on the invoice at 50.00 per month. However will give me an additional 100Mb CDR so that works out at 0.85p per Mb

Cogent are trying to play the EasyJet game. They have undersold themselves to the point there struggling to make a profit so now there trying to charge for any little thing they can think of to make money.

We were told we would have to pay a fee for Extra BGP sessions but not on the main one. Without the BGP session they cannot provide the service.

It's only 85p/mb *if* you use all 200Mb/s on 95th.
If you're only expecting to max at 100Mb/s it's still 2.20/mb with this 'bgp fee'
