As Rickie says - users doing what ?
1.2Gb of what ? HTML, Video, DB ?
Whats the Target market - Business or Home, UK or O/Seas etc
All will have an impact on the server and service you need.

Cost of deidicated server
Hi Guys,
The website contains 35 Flash animations set in Html pages and 32 flash based videos also in Html pages. The traffic would be mainly down to the members as it is a knowledged based site that members will visit to refresh/ learn. In time we will add questions as revision aids etc.
The 12,000 membership would grow over the course of three years, the 30,000 membership would develop over around 1-2 years.
The market would primarily be students/colleges accessing the site, either from work or from home.
The server would need to be secure to protect the memberships data.
In the first instance there would be no discussion forum although this might be added later.
I hope this helps if you have any other questions please ask
The site has in total 236 pages

ok, so over the period of 12 months, you'd *probably* expect every client to view all the content at least twice - based on experience of training videos, there will be those that watch most of them once, and several that watch all of them 20 times
so 1.2Gb*2 = 2.4Gb/user
12,000 users accumulated over a period of say 12months at a growing rate - say 20% increase/month = ...
1031/month1
1288/month2
1611/month3
etc.
each user will access all ofthe data in their 1st 3 months, and the 2nd copy over the next 6
you can do the s/sheets
but at "peak" you're probably looking at 10Tb of transfer

Depends on teh quality of the host you pick, how quickly it does grow, etc. as long term you're looking at multiple load-balanced high-quality servers ...
Starting from *around* £150/month heading up towards the £10k+/month ranges

Start with a single server and grow into multiple. But make sure you choose a provider you can stay with and like.
