If both cost the same for a dedicated server, which would you choose?

I'm just interested in people's opinions of the companies at the moment. I'll take the packages into account separately.

The poll hasn't gone the way I expected. I suppose I should take it with a pinch of salt though, as probably few of the voters have experience of both...

I've nearly mind my mind up, one company works out around 25% cheaper over a year, so obviously this is a factor...

(I didn't want price to be a factor in the poll though.)

Why limit your choices..

Make a post in the requests for products and services section and you may find people with lower cost offerings again!

Coreix because they have AFAIK universal praise on forum topics mentioning them. Poundhost because sales answers were helpful and hardware extras are very competitively priced.

I would recommend others too but if given a choice here I would totally avoid coreix for the following reason:

1Gb ram upgrade £21.90 PER MONTH.

That's not fair in this day and age. Have your server for one year and you have paid £262.80 in extras.

Poundhost will do the same for a one off cost of just £116. And obviously: if you have the server for two years you have paid £525.60 for that 1Gb ram which Poundhost charged you just £116 at the start.

Last week I bought 2 x 1Gb PC6400 ram to upgrade one of my PCs.... cost? £25.

cue: "server memory is much more expensive; ram uses current and power prices have gone up a zillion percent; we have to support the extra ram etc. etc."

Anyone charging £525.60 on a two year server for a part which costs less than a tenth of that price, and where another host will do a one off cost for £116 is not someone I would want to do a deal with.
