I'm just a few minutes away! Crossing my fingers their service/pricing doesn't follow the business model adopted by the BT DC in Cardiff Bay.

.. interesting debates on this, in respective of where's the power coming from (a substation within a kilometer of the site) and connectivity (BT, NTL and Surf to get you as far as Bristol).

And once again, any other stuff, I bet goes right back to Docklands for it to go back over the west country and leave us

But, lets wait and see if they actually deal with all of these problems.

Well the site is in Tredegar park in Newport and is no more than 500 meters from the M4 (junction before first Cardiff turn off) but what does make it interesting.. in the close vicinity of this "1km location" is:

Huge HSBC main call centre
Huge Lloyds TSB main call centre
Huge Virgin Media call centre
Panasonic factory of some sort (if I remember correctly)
Main Census place where they generate the statistics which come from the UK census (now that has to have some computing power surely?)
Huge ass Asda..

And they want to share the power along with the huge estate also on that 1KM circle?

I remember that place, I got involved in their effluent treatment plant back in my water treatment days.

The site consisted of about 3 separate plants, the largest was absolutely vast - bigger than most car factories.

It's certainly looking promising - time will tell how the pricing works out though. It's nice and local for us too so we may well look at using it.

But aren't big business parks not generally spec'd out to deal with major power needs? The building used to be a semi conductor plant, that probably needed a fair bit of juice.

150MVA? That's shed-loads. Three times more than the biggest London site I know, GS2.

1.5kW sq.m isn't all that much though, 13A per rack on standard sort of spacing.
