    Question Game servers

    Hi guys

If I were to use a dedicated server to create some game servers, 3 counter-strike servers to be exact, how much bandwidth would be needed?
and how cheap would I be able to get it?
So far I've been searching the web for days, looking for some affordable dedicated servers.
I would prefer it to be a linux server and (of course) located in UK.

My current budget is at £100 / month, with an optional setup fee.

so in the worst case scenario I would end up with needing about 700-800 gigs available, but since the usual peak is about 8 hours it's probably more likely 250 gigs for a server. ok, thx m8

I would say you need about 150 GBytes per month for 3 16 player public cs servers. Based on a average of several hundred.

    Hi

Another thing to look for is that the hosting company has good connectivity to the Net both transit and peering with other ISP's.

As most dial-up and ADSL connections come over LINX, having connections to these will have some great advantages.

Ask the ISP if they have their own AS Number and try some traceroutes to their servers at different times of the day and night.

Their are plenty of looking glasses around.
    1u Colocation 2Mb Transfer only £39.95 pm
2Mb Uncapped ADSL only £26.99 per month (FREE Migration)

Web Hosting :: Reseller Hosting :: Colocation :: Dedicated Servers :: Transit :: ADSL :: SDSL
