    APC Version?

Is there any way to determine the model number and firmware version of an APC unit remotely?

Via telnet, menu 3 (System) then menu 6 (About System).

    Disable TELNET on the APC

    ALL APC's has an backdoor.
so with TELNET everybody can find your password
and it's even possible to flash the APC

http://www.cyberprog.net/apc/ has the latest firmware for the 9212's. I do recommend you disable the telnet though!

APC doesn't has an fix for that
so it's better to disable telnet

better protect then fix it when the trouble show up.

I find a lot of APC's who are wide open.

have you tried finding an uptodate firmware on the apc website? it's bloody hard and most people don't know how to update them either!
