Advice

Hi guys

Im hoping i can get a little expert opinion.

What is the average acceptable time to wait for a dedicated server to go live, before i am entitled to ask for a refund?

I am just a little concerned with some forum posts on their website, and lack of communication coming.

Im not being an unreasonable arse here, i would simply respect the knowledge of you guys of "acceptable" wait times.

Background :

Paid 15th July
Bank Transfer cleared wed 20th
Promised setup within two days, then monday,
On Tuesday i had to send a mail asking what was going on, reply remote admin broken, technician hopefully going this week!!!
Now Thur 28th, only 1 piece of comms in reply to my questions.

I would expect a bit more communication with you on the subject but id say 7 working days is a max. wait time unless they have contacted you saying they are having problems, stock problems, delivery problems, etc, in which case it is out of the companies control.

Why dont you give them a call?

Whether you should be aggreived really depends on what lead time they quoted before and after they made the sale.

Sometimes timescales do slip, but the provider should really communicate what's going on, if so.

As they quoted you two days, but have now slipped a lot further without much explanation, you'd be entitled to want an explanation.

I'd also recommend phoning them.

'Remote admin broken' seems a little odd. Even if it were 'broken', how could that possibly delay the handover for more than 24 hours?

As Paul said, give them a call and air your grievances. If they quoted you 2 day setup before you handed over your money and it's now taken a week then you should be entitled to some compensation as a good will gesture.

Thx guys for your replys, im gratefull

The GSP has contacted me today several times and offered me a satisfactory compensation package, but the server wont be sorted untill tuesday 2nd, but i think thats out of his control

The communication was the essential part of all this, as most of you mentioned, if you know whats going on, then things arent as bad.

thx again
