    Angry Laptop Nightmare!

Had a bit of a nightmare last night, i have (or should i say HAD) an MSI m635 laptop was great for what i did, able to monitor emails, tickets manage the voip when needed and play a bit of eve-online and counter strike on the side , done a format and re-install yesterday as it was getting to the point of getting tooo slow, later on in the evening put it down, went to check my emails, power comes on and thats it no screen nothing, no hd activity, though there was a rather strange burning sensation smell, opened it up, cant see anything visible to cause it to happen so all in all looks dead , dont need a PHD in computer science to tell me that

Anyway.. thats my current situation so on the lookout for a new laptop that will meet what i need something to do my emails on and a bit of gaming on the side for a spare minute or two i have when im not answering tickets and emails ideally dont want to spend more than 650-700 found this one any reccomendations are appreciated

You'd be better off finding a Core2Duo, rather than just a CoreDuo - they are out there.

Personally, i like Toshiba (i have a Satellite A100 myself)

Having tried both a Core2Duo and a CoreDuo I would suggest the C2D is definitely the best choice.

I have a 2Ghz,4Mb Cache in my laptop (which I'm using now) and to be honest, its the perfect desktop replacement! Slowest part of the laptop is the 5400 rpm HDD which I must get around to replacing :P

The most impressive bit about these new C2D laptops is power consumption. With the regular 6 cell battery I get around 4hrs battery life with decent usage (i.e. not the stupid dell figures) and with a high cap battery (8 cell) and the CDROM slot spares you can get from dell (4 cell) I get 8hrs life screen brightness high and lots of wireless usage!

Ish, its just a previous version of the C2D, like a pentium 3 is to a pentium 4 (although the gap between the CD and C2D isn't as big)

I bought a Sony Vaio in May, I am very impressed with it. I almost bought a Toshiba, looked to be similar quality to the Vaio but the Vaio had the edge for me it just seemed that little bit better and I don't regret it. I bought mine in the states so it's a US model but it has a Core2Duo T5500 1.66GHz (I think), 2GB RAM, 200GB 7200RPM SATAII, and runs very nicely.

Cant tell you the price we get it at but its alot less than you are expecting to pay, plus with free 512mb ram upgrade to bring it up to 1GB it seems perfect.

Not used it for gaming, just for business but in all honesty you are not going to get a decent GFX card on a laptop for sub 1k.

    Spec as follows...

    Core 2 Duo T5600 1.83Ghz 512+512 80GB DVDrw 15.4" XP Pro

Quote this product code when/if you call/check online.
