    Register1

Bit of a strange situation this.

I've been a customer of Register1 for a few years have have just had a very strange reply to a support ticket.

I wanted to renew a domain but was told my account was locked and to contact support.

On doing so, I was told that they would not accept any new orders from my account and I should transfer them to an alternative provider. The were unable to provide a reason why this would be other than "Unfortunately I can see no indication as to a reason on the system and so I am unable to provide any further information, apologies."

For some reason, they are unwilling to investigate why this should be. When I pointed out it would cost both myself money and time to migrate all my domains away and they would be losing my business, I was told

"We are under no obligation to accept new orders, however we will maintain all current services until their individual expiration."

This seems an incredibly bizarre situation that a company would be willing to lose business and provide no reason to the customer.

I notice they have representatives active on this forum so I'd be interested for a comment. I can provide domains/usernames/call log numbers if required.

    Thanks

Mr / Ms Fruibat04 - do you care to summarise the situation so the original post does not reflect on Jamie and crew if relevant?

Obviously leave out any pertinent details, but an summary explanation for others who stumble over this would be nice..

    Sure.

Jamie PM'd me and offered to renew the domain manually for a year without taking payment.

He is away from the office until the new year now, but is going to check out how this happened on his return.

When he updates me I will post back here. I suspect I still cannot renew other domains using my account, but I have enough time before the next one expires for him to look into it.

I would guess it is all just a big coincidence that this customer had a rather public spat with one of your larger customers.

    With whose larger customers?

From what i've heard Jamie runs a very tight ship - and i'm sure that this is a very slight blip - and comments from those that now nothing about the situation/companies involved don't actually add to anything.

    Ah.

    Maybe i'm one of those.

    Erm, i'll get my coat

As the OP I'd just like to reiterate that Jamie has resolved the situation pending investigated what is wrong with my account.

I domain I own did have a spat with another one hosted by Register1 but I don't think it had any relevance on this issue.
