It was hosted by us, no idea it even existed so took it down.

I haven't tried windows 7 at all yet, it just makes me think about getting a Mac instead.

Good choice! I keep Windows XP around in bootcamp and Parallels (using the same partition) for the times I need Windows programs, but it is rare that I use it for anything other than Command and Conquer

Hmm... so Bionic Hosting use Windows 7 or Vista?

Since this thread is about Windows for some reason I didn't quite understand, I use Vista at work and XP at home - have to say I find XP very disorientating and (if I actually felt my PC was up to the job) I'd upgrade to Vista at home in a second (of course in reality it would take much longer like all Windows installers!).

My main gripe with Vista is that there doesn't seem to be a keyboard shortcut for turning it off? In XP you can just go Start > u > u to shutdown for example, but how do you do likewise on Vista? Did I miss a trick?

Other than that I'm disorientated every time I go to the control panel in either of them... too much colouring! Bring back 3.1 I say!

EDIT: Overuse of the word 'disorientated'? Maybe I should've found another way to express that, but it takes the fun out of it if I don't give people the opportunity for a "witty" follow-up

I always found shutting Windows Vista down in a hurry to be a thoroughly painful experience and most of the time I ended up putting the machine to sleep my mistake.

I find the XP control panel in classic mode to be fairly usable (still prefer the OS X System Preferences though )

C&C Generals mostly as it seems to be the most stable over a network.
I do like a good game of C&C Tiberian Sun, but IPX drives me insane and long matches are nearly impossible without at least one person getting kicked due to sync problems.
I keep meaning to break out the Red Alert disks, but I just don['t seem to have the time

TBH I realized that i have all of them anyway since i have the 10 year box set and the others. Generals was one I played less off but if you fancy playing C+C 3 or TS give me a shout!

Is C&C3 any good? Really need to get around to giving the trial a go...

It's probably a little fast paced for my liking (I.E. Blitz tactics normally win out) but yes, I enjoy it.

Never quite got to grips with generals as it seemed only half way C+C, and just prefered C+C over all the Red alert stuff.

Yeah, Generals isn't really C&C. It's a good game if you take it by itself though. The biggest improvement over other C&C games being the long overdue ability to construct new buildings in parallel.

Wow we've managed to go off topic.

latest version of ubuntu runs my hp note wireless connection flawlessly - wheres as both XP and Vista and 7 all constantly drop and refuse to connect.

Various drivers etc - reload from HP disks didnt help ... only good things to say about ubuntu!

I have the same problem with Windows Vista, both our vista laptop's have problems connecting to our netgear but the Ubuntu desktop which I use for remote desktop and backup's etc connects without a single problem - everytime!

I've been considering giving Mint Linux a try on my laptop.
