Only hitting 40% of your estimated sales means you either screwed up your estimates or your execution big time!

Why do you insist on putting that blank image in all your posts?

.tel is a waste of $, just another registry cash grab. Expect more of the same with all the new ICANN gTLDs in the not to distant future.

Do you really think its a waste of money? At $300 odd even I beleived it was, but today when it hardly costs less than $10 - I don't think so...

I believe cost is relative to what you gain and a .tel domain is just another avenue to brand your services. When I compare that pricing and ROI to the hundreds or thousands of dollars we spend on Google AdWords, that investment is minuscule.

The cost for an ad on any such forum is close to $100. A Google Adword bid of less than $5 won't get one keyword ad listed in the top two pages - not in this industry. Thus, .tel is a cost that works for you 24/7.

@Steve Hostirian: I owe this to you.

Having a domain name does nothing to promote your brand and is in no way a replacement for advertising.
What use is a domain name if no-one knows what it is?

"if" no-one knows what it is - then no Domain Name or Advertising content is worth it.

The point being that once you start building a Brand, you use various means to promote it, including having your company Domains Name.

And at this stage it even helps havin a .tel Domain Name because its a lot easier for you to reach out to ur Customer this way:
Create groups of contact - Slaes, Billing & Support.
Allow each user/client have direct access to the phone line/msn/skype of the customer care service/one of managers.

Freethought, I understand your point, but if your company is always looking at continous Brand Building excercises then .tel is one mean which is worth every penny.

I'm sorry, but IMO that is absolute crap. Outside of the ISP industry, about 0.00001% of people have even heard of a .tel domain, so why the chuff is anyone going to look up your details on it.

Oh my god Domainer you're still talking about this? You started this thread 2 months ago asking what the catch was, now you're defending it.

As Pete says, no ones heard of a .tel

Domainer I have a task for you. Go onto the street, cafe or pub, strike up conversation about your business and get that person interested. Then give them your URL as a .tel. I can guarantee you'll spend the next 5 minutes explaining what you just said.

In conversation with a friend last weekend ...
so you think I should get one of them .com listings for my business ...
10 minutes of decoding WTF was being talked about, turns out he'd seen a TV advert for .TELs they've been running, emphasising phonebooks, and mobiles, and customers finding you by magic/telepathy/something ...

So they've done a good job on branding - NOT!

Hey Rob, you should have offered a complete marketing campaign free with a .tel from Domainer - probably comes with a money back guarantee and a unlimited uptime too.
