    In that case, ask them what their Nominet IPS tag is.

    I'm not sure how you or your account manager consider Rob's math to be anti-directi, it's simply what you pay for domains through them once you have credited your account and they have taken their fees.

    To answer your first question its PDR-IN

    Second I don't suppose I inform my AM in directi about my postings in the forum. its completely my take on things considering what he has mentioned. yes they have deposit policy as you have to be a reseller and the price for the domains from what i have seen is directly deducted without any vat or extra charges. so maybe you need to check this for your own self before any conclusions.

    I *think* PublicDomainRegistry is a Directi brand, in which case they are Nominet members.

    How much do you pay to deposit money into your Directi account? That is what Rob meant by hidden/sneaky charges. Although you pay $4.69 for the domain, you have paid an extra 5% or whatever it is to fill up your account in the first place so the price is effectively $4.93 which is about £5.99 for two years at current exchange rates. Nominet members get *.uk domains for £5+VAT for two years.

    i started with 200 dollars paying via paypal which credited around 196 dollars. im just wondering how did you calculate 5% charges. and the price is £5.78 for 2 years for .co.uk. in any case the 196 dollars was completely utilized without any further charges.

    Did I say I calculated it? No, as I said, I took the 5% figure from Rob's post as an example and asked you how much it really was.

    The £5.99 comes from:
    $4.69*2=$9.38 - Price for two years
    $9.38=£5.71 - USD->GBP conversion
    £5.70*1.05=£5.99 - Add 5% for DirectI refill charges

    If you are paying a 2% fee as you said then the effective price is actually:
    $4.69*2=$9.38 - Price for two years
    $9.38=£5.71 - USD->GBP conversion
    £5.70*1.02=£5.81 - Add 2% for DirectI refill charges

    You really need to calm down and stop acting like everyone is out to get you.

    but what you fail to understand here is im not paying annually i have just paid this amount once. so my point is how is 1.02 that your are talking about included if i am registering 10 domains. its not making sense, my price stops at £5.78 nothing more nothing less.

    1.02 is adding the 2% 'refill' charge to the domain cost.
    So you pay for the domain out of money it has cost 2% to put in to pay with.

    Because you pay for the domains with the money you fill your account with. You have to fill your account in order to register or renew your domains. Each time you fill your account, you loose 2% of the money put in so you are spending 2% above the list price on the domains you register ore renew.

    how does this get included in all 10 .co.uk domains i just registered.

    $4.69*10=$46.9*2=$93.8 that is how much has been deducted.

    if you guys are talking about 2% refill charges I have no clue where you guys are getting it from. I have paid 200$ and $196 is credited, its just 1.02% of my total deposit and I will not be adding any further amount until i finished using it. so how does 1.02% get added for each domain name. like i said you really need to check and try an account before any assumptions.

    Brick wall anyone?

    It cost $4 to spend the $200
    You only get $196 to use of the $200
    There for to buy $196 price of goods it costs $200.

    How about each month you give me £200 and I give you £196 back. You can then go spend that £196 on whatever you want happy in the knowledge that there is no extra fee being charged...

    Directi/RC pricing for .uk is $8.49/year - although they're currently "on sale" at $4.69/year ... ww*.resellerclub.com/pricing/#domain_reg

    As far as charges/%ages - an initial deduction of 2.7% (charged at paypal *actual*) (i.e. $100 > 97.3 usable) means you're paying a premium of ~2.8% on registrations/transfers/renewals

    However, there is an additional levy of additional 2.2% if you use a PP account which is funded by a credit-card - hence the 5% I quoted

    PDR is the generic name given for LogicBox software users who dont have direct arrangements with a registry, so domains on that TAG arent necessarily Directi's, but potentially any of the 300 or so other LB users

    The company is directi group and they dont appear on a list of members
    List of Members

    Yes, everyone who's been in the industry a while has an opinion on most registrars, we have to deal with them all in one-way-or-another on a daily basis

    And Nominet charge everyone except VAT registered EU business VAT (ref: the AOL ruling from years ago)

    Me, I wouldnt put anything business critical with a company with such "interesting" history, but its your domain, your time and your money ... IMHO you spend far too much chasing that elusive 50p saving ...

    Oh, and 196 is 2.04% less than 200
