Mouse creep
Anyone else experience this phenomeon?
I have an input device that works fine on one machine. On another however, it creeps to the right.
It used to creep slowly, now it creeps a bit faster.
I'm using Windows Vista on both machines.
A quick google suggests that i'm not the only one. Can anyone suggest the reason this may be happening?
To be fair, I'm an expert at breaking computers in interesting ways but it seems that I'm not alone on this one.

I've had that before...
It is rather strange, and no idea how I got over it.
I've got an old iMac G5 PowerPC in the office which I use for when I can't be arsed to make it back all the way to the other side of the building, and every now and again if you move the mouse, the whole screen moves ever so slightly, so you can wiggle it side to side, I thought it was my eyes at first.

Wiggle=No win.
As I'm sure I've said before, I break computers in interesting ways apparently.

If it's only happening on one PC, it may be an issue with that particular PC as opposed ot the device. Is it a PS/2 device? If so, you could try it with a PS/2 to USB convertor and then test it on another port on that computer - that should then tell you if it's how that PC is interpreting the data from the device or if it's a port issue

isn't this because of the surface it's on (presuming it's an optical mouse)

I've seen this before on IBM laptops that have the 'nipple' mouse control but this was a long long time ago pre-Lenovo.

You got a nipple or touchpad on the machine? IBMs and Toshs' used to wander with heat and the nipple all the time. And I've seen touchpads do the same especially when greasy. If you have and don't use them, turn them off.

Think I'll just throw my desktop out of the Window and be done with.
