Ok well the missus had a brain stormer for a website (adult related) and what can i say.
Its been a massive hit allready after only being up for a few hours they are flooding in allready , its not a adult website like wham bam thank you mam its got a bit of touch to it and aimed more at the mature people.
My question is though well not really a question more advice and what to look our for what to expect it terms of growth , hardware required.
At the moment its forum based with the option of a website at a later date basically its people posting pictures of themselves being offered to get rated , commented on and hell even hook up!
so yea theres going to be alot of pictures stored on the site so im guessing alot of disk space would be required but in terms of bandwidth?

Well, what are you using at the moment? Shared hosting? What are the current limits? Surely you have some stats on it up to now?

This wont ever use any huge resources as you have so much competition, but the traffic should be quite profitable to make up for that.

(Fling / AFF / Amateurdate to name just 3 with stupid traffic levels)

I'd just go with the flow and ensure you have plenty of ram and you shouldn't have any problems along the way. However from the sounds of it you're not charging unlike all the above.

Yea strict indtructions from the other half "FREE" i will monitor the usage over the next week and maybe report back with some stats and hopeully i can get a better picture from those who know best

That was just from opening the doors , really got a feeling this is gonna be rather large , but as neil pointed out i dont think disk space usage will be massive as most attachments etc are 100kb
Just bandwidth usage maybe?

Had over 300 registered members in the 36 hours of the site being opened and it continues to shoot up

well im not pushing datefree.com yet as ive not had time to finish it, but we get 900 members signup per 24h there, here are some stats on bandwidth and diskspace etc.

492,000 members
Data size of images uploaded 33Gb
Page views per day 180,000 unique visitors per day 11,000

So it would apear members drop off pretty fast from returning, but that wont be helped by our unfinished design.

Either way id imagine therefore yourlooking at ~70-150 Kbytes per member average disk space usage.
