Fotopic.net in trouble

It looks like one of the UKs oldest online photo galleries has gone into administration today

Yahoo Groups is full of messages of broken links and rumours

Snappy Designs Ltd of Wakefield was coming under considerable criticism for its standards of service towards the end of 2008, with many complaints on the quality of products shipped to customers

Can anyone work out where their servers are for me?
193.0.234.0
193.0.234.2
193.0.234.3
I assume they are with fibrecloud.net in the USA

Are you assuming about the administration or isthere something to back it up? I ask as looking on a mailing list I'm on it appears to be a network issue (of course that could be non payment)

Well, looking at the routing table 193.0.234.0/24 no longer appears (this is where the nameservers for fotopic.net were located).

Based on RIPE RIS and BGPlay it looks like this was withdrawn from AS12390 (Kingston Communications) at approximately 09:30 this morning.

Do you know where fotopic.net used to resolve too?

They were already in financial trouble at the end of last year
Both Fotopic Limited and FotoPic.Net Limited were already in liquidation

As far as I can work out the IP address record resolves to servers at Kingston Communication

Ignore my reference to fibrecloud.net
It was part of the traceroute and that was where it ended and timed out!

Makes me wonder...
Network outage
If they ain't paid their bills then the above might apply!

No, the IP's are assigned for use by Fotopic.

Kingston act as (looking at it, sole) transit provider to Fotopic's online services.

Kingston stopped announcing these addresses to the "internet" as of this morning.

I suspect that either you were getting default routed somewhere in your trace, or that someone was for a short period of time announcing an aggregate which covered that specific /24 (although, that is pretty unlikely!)

I've now checked out some other websites at Kingston, they all appear to be in order...
This really does suggest Kingston pulled the plug on them!

Kingston Communications (or KCOM Group) are quite a large organisation - owning the likes of Mistral etc..etc..

It would have certainly been more impactful if the whole of the KCOM network and associated entities were having a full outage

I was looking at Fotopic on Friday Morning, with a view to signing up for a premium account. I was looking at some Featured Galleries when it froze, then I found I couldn't get anywhere on Fotopic. Attempts to view it produced various messages saying that IE was unable to display the site.

Half an hour later and I'd have signed up!
