Couple questions!

- can blackberries sync with exchange mail and calendar using https like an iphone can? ie without BES .

- what windows mobile would you recommend that can sync exchange mail and calendar over https (without needing usb plug!)

thanks

I think Blackberries always need to have a BES for remote calander sync and push email. But you can just use IMAP / Desktop sync without IIRC. Not a blackberry expert so not sure.

All Windows mobiles on the market can sync exchange over https.

thanks for that - will need to grab a blackberry and test.

Which windows mobile would you suggest? Looking for reasonable screen but not as big and bulky as an spv thing ....

Depends on the volume you need of these things. Blackberry with a free 5 license BES server from BB is the best option. If not, then WM works fine, assuming your exchange provider supports it and its EXC2003 SP2 or greater, but not anywhere as seamlessly as BB..

the cost for windows mobile etc are far lower than BB per handset and costs - nearly half.

Huh, BB handsets are free on contract from most providers, a BES license is free for up to five handsets and they work. I haven't rebooted mine for months!
Having gone thru pretty much every WM handset under the sun including some ginormous data bills for scabby keep alive packets when coverage is poor and toilet battery life I come back to the same answer. Get a BB!

we have 9 currently and they cost a lot. Currently with 02 and they want approx £70 each handset to upgrade and the tariff isnt reducing much.

T-mobile are offering cheaper, but Im not sure on their network.

Running an extra server for 9 users isnt cost effective really.

Brian Fair enough. We pay naff all with orange for BBs and don't use BES to be fair. Used to use BIS and IMAP but scrapped that and just use SyncML which is now free..

Use Samsung Omnia (i900).

Never had a problem with it. Probably best WM device I have owned.

Real nice phone syncs with exchange no problems.

thats good to know - tmobile just quoted an amazing deal - 75% cheaper than current plans with free bold handsets etc. If the network is OK looks like that will be the deal!
