Its not chain drive, its a prop so no dodgyness in that respect.
The big advantage of a BEC is the weight. You can easily get them to 430KG and with more money bring that down to 400 before you start going silly with money. A similar money CEC will be heavier and not much more power.
It would of course have paddles and due to the way they work (moving the lever the same as a bike) they work so well.
A CEC would go to a higher speed eventually, but more entertaining only you can decide. After being in both I know which I found more fun...

My Type-R goes back at the end of May. Loved every minute of it. Kinda wish I had taken it for 3 years instead of 2 now but actually it's worked out quite well. The lease company is surely going to lose a ton when they come to sell it on.

BMW 135.... Very nice but it's no ///M car. It's just a bog standard BMW with a nice engine. For the money I want something a bit special.

S3... So boring it's unbelievable. Fast on paper but that 2.0 turbo engine has got no character what so ever. Lovely inside with the recaros but what a waste.

Nothing else is worth a mention really. I know it might sound funny but my little Honda Civic is such fun to drive, it's not the quickest or best performing but the engine is so lovely it just puts a smile on my face every time.

I'm gonna look at the VW R32, maybe that will make me smile, I know that V6 engine sounds lovely so fingers crossed

RS/ST, depends who you're talking to. New one was in the times, 300 bhp with a trick diff to handle it, but I imagine many will still end up understeering in to a hedge.

Yeah I've had a look too.... Very tempting considering the market now. There are some lovely examples to be had for as little as £22k on Pistonheads.

Update - £1300/yr for insurance? Blimey.... im starting to get excited now

Erm yes, that would be how I formed my opinion.
Driven a pug 205 rally car with one and didnt think much of it (fair enough - its a rally car on gravel) but then was equally dissapointed with the focus on the road.

Asbo technically is the ST according to Clarkson. The new RS has a new front suspension set up which is supposed to reduce torque steer drastically, would be interesting to see how driveable the new set up makes it.

The last ST was known to be a dog though, they got it all wrong and they know it, the torque steer was v. bad (still quick in a straight line though, if you could keep it straight). The new one by all accounts is a lot better, but only time will tell, tempting to go try one actually - Maybe now they are struggling the local dealer will actually make some effort.

UKDSL is an unknown quantity at this point
I currently have a lovely '94 French Racing Green Espace on Pistonheads. Fully capable of 0-60, fibreglass so weighs next to nothing. Renault : 1994 Renault Espace Alizee - A/C

I will p/x for any of the cars mentioned in the above posts, obviously with additional cash coming my way as I will be compromising on style and practicality.

I backed to backed a 205 with open diff and Quaife - I think the characteristics of the Quaife are much more suited to FWD. There has got to be reason Ford chose them.

Out of interest, what didn't work well with the Quaife when you drove it?
