The fibre in North Wales is at 14 main business parks so in most cases it's some distance from residential areas.

On park it's affordable (just) if you really need a 1:1 symmetric point to point ethernet connection and appreciate the true value of dark fibre to the door.

Off park you're paying for every inch of the dig. Fine if your a carrier class customer but then North Wales is thin on the ground for carrier class customers and full of £14.99 per month customers.

There are surely economies of scale to this tho. While each punter might attract a perhaps 5% of revenue support overhead, the core I would presume takes little more support for 1 as 100 and presumably starts to cost in better for transit/volume leased lines etc?

That said, if you can make the same Net from 10% of potential market than 75%, you have to think long and hard (imo) whether there is a middle ground, or a service offering where you can still charge at least something of a premium to the 10% while capture the 65 remaining % at a slightly higer price than previously anticipated.

Of course this is pie in the sky yap without knowing the full facts, just my 2p!
