Lollington. I had set their emails to divert to another folder am glad I checked one last time.
Excellent, so now time to calculate your wasted effort on them and send repeated counter claims for costs in dealing with and proving their mistake..

    Indeed I am considering this.

I would be very interested to hear from Mr James Wade as he came on here last night evidently alerted by my postings and yet did and said nothing. He could have easily stopped me wasting more time today etc etc and chose to let this continue.

Apparently he still has an interest in Phurix so I am very curious to hear who was sending me all these emails (as at some point they apparently spoke to the other James who admitted he may have made some accounting errors, NSS). Perhaps Mr Wade would care to explain what on earth is going on!

Is it also too much to expect a public apology on here, since Mr Wade has made himself the representative of phurix on this forum?

To be honest, I'd just move on with running your business and stop wasting any more time on the matter. It's just not worth the time or effort in the long run.

They've started on me too now... I haven't been a Phurix customer for at least five years, and out of the blue I'm getting these debt emails.

They know what they can do with them, they're not getting a penny from me.

It sounds like they're desperate for cash and are resorting to any means possible to get it!

    Indeed.

Phurix has now sent me a statement showing the last invoice raised being in June 2008. I've had no communication since from Phurix relating to any outstanding balance, and any alleged debt is statute barred under law due to the time lapse. I wonder how many other statute barred accounts they'll go after.

I should let this lie, but I am very concerned that unlike we strong and savvy business people, there are more vulnerable people being harassed. Not everyone who buys webhosting runs a business, there may be people who've just run a hobby site or a memorial site for their child, or any number of other such things and these emails are going to cause nothing but misery and distress and I guess Phurix hope is some people will pay 100 or some "reasonable" figure to settle, rather than the 1000s the invoices are claiming for cancelled accounts.

So what is the law on this, exactly, surely this is not within the law?

Where is Mr Wade? I think this thread is 3 on Google for "Phurix" - I can't think of a better advertisment for them!

Perhaps the two of you should each contact the local trading standards branch in Manchester? With two independent complaints they might be inclined to investigate.

There's an idea. Though their servers seem to be in Market Drayton, where their original business address was. Now they have this odd address in Bury and a Manchester number - guess trading standards could track some of this down?!

    The following made me chuckle:

Complaint / review: Mr. James Wade - Phurix told me to pay in cocoa seeds - Unbelievable!

5 years on... Maybe if they spent as much time on their business instead of this sort of nonsense perhaps they wouldn't be desperate for cash?

If they want to make a go of hosting as a business I would say they are going ever so slightly wrong with their PR

Whoever this guy is at the other end of the email, he's like a dog with a bone.

Refusing to acknowledge the law and practically begging for money. It's all getting a bit pathetic.

EDIT: All of a sudden, they've found a notice of cancellation for my account and now consider the matter closed... maybe if they had checked records first before issuing erroneous demands for money...

So you are not willing to come to a reasonable resolution?!

    AH, you're there before me....

My concern is with people who cannot find the the documentation - are they going to get dragged through the court process for debts for services which they legitimately cancelled years ago?
