    Refund from Webfusion

    Hi,

I have been with Webfusion for nearly 20 years, as a shared hosting customer.

Recently Webfusion has been taken over - or changed name, not sure which, - they are still trading from the same address:
Paragon Internet Group, The Shipping Building, Old Vinyl Factory, 252 254 Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex, England, UB3 1HA

They convinced me to move off my old shared hosting platform with Webfusion and move over to the Cloud Hosting package at TSO Host, I had a conversation via support tickets with Webfusion months before the take over (if I moved to 123-Reg - which waas the alternative at the time) advising I would be refunded pro rata if I moved. (tickets have been taken down since the take over).

In May webfusion took a 12 months hosting charge off me via Direct Debit.
On 4th June I bought a 12 month package with TSO and have started moving sites over to them from Webfusion, Webfusion though are saying they will not refund my money prorata when the move is complete, but transfer a credit to my TSO package.
    I want a money refund - not a credit.

No one at TSO seems able to help, saying they are bound by their T&C's, and this is the best they can do, despite long phone conversations and support tickets - and life is too short, but thee is a principal here I believe.

As a long standing customer I feel TSO are withholding my money unfairly.

When I signed up with Webfusion, did I sign up to be bounced around like this ?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Webfusion/TSO with-holding refund

If you don't have proof of the original conversation then it's a case of he-said-she-said - plus if the conversation was before the takeover, you had an agreement with a different company. Don't forget to look at it from their perspective: they'll have just paid money to buy you, and now you're asking for a refund of money they never received - but at least they're offering you credit now, in the absence of any proof of the conversation, which seems very fair to me.

To answer your question, when you signed up with Webfusion you were signing up to a different company 20 years ago. If you're not happy with the service you're getting now, find somewhere else, otherwise personally I'd take the credit and be happy with a cheaper bill at some point in the future.

Webfusion should still have a copy of that original conversation though, even if the tickets are not accessible to customers anymore through whatever system changes they've made as part of the integration.

GoDaddy will have taken over the legal entity, so it's the same company just with a different owner.

If it was Direct Debit (and not an automatic card payment), you can force the issue by invoking the direct debit guarantee but this would generally be a last resort option.

Unfortunately I don't have any power or influence at Tsohost anymore to sort anything for you, but Sara Rego is MD so perhaps ask to be escalated to her. As with any complaint, always attempt to appeal to their good nature rather than going nuclear (in my experience).
