The main problem we have is deciding on ad rates

It's pretty hard to estimate.
Maybe at first you have to see how many hits a standard banner would get. It would be even better if you can get a payPerClick system running. People are far more willing to pay for those as they know what becomes of their money. In general I think it would be reaonable to charge around $0.1 per click (could be more of course).

Hi richard we are doing the same thing, cos we dont know how much to charge.
We just got sponsored by a pretty big company tho, maybe you should try sucking up 2 a few companies lol

We went for free banner ads

I don't do sucking up unfortunately, Keeping neutral was a sticking point in the early days that I soon learnt and hopefully WHC has benefited from this.
