Sky PCI Cards

I have been looking for months now, You know you can get freeview pci cards for your computer. Well is there such thing as a pci card that uses my sky digital satelite?

Yes, but you can't view any channels that aren't Free-to-Air (i.e. only the channels that are sent unencrypted like the BBC channels and all the shopping channels) because there isn't a CAM to put a Sky viewing card in and decode the encrypted signal.

Isn't there any that have that in it or where I can use my smart card reader and copy my skycard?

No. Sky encryption isn't crackable or decodable by anything other than a Sky digibox at the moment.

Very much doubt you can do that - Don't Sky send a scrambling signal along with the movies to stop you being able to record them?

They use Macrovision on Sky Box Office movies, but as I said, it's not possible to do what he wants.

Yeah they do, but those sky+ boxes manage to record the movies so I thought there would be a pci card alternative.

Shame there isn't one really it would go well with my media center pc.

Macrovision is applied at playback time, and causes video recording equipment to record a bad picture..

You could use a Tandberg TT1220 or 1260 DSat IRD which are the only non-digibox unit to available fitted with a Sky CAM. They output an MPEG transport stream on an ASI connection so you would need a suitable ASI card for your PC to get the stream onto a network. I did some work on Homechoice a couple of years back and this is how they produce their feeds.

Good luck getting one of the Tandberg units though - they're professional broadcast kit and I'd estimate the price to be £3-4k each. Then you've got to persuade Sky to pair your viewing card with that box which might be a challenge.

Probably cheaper and easier to buy a Sky+ box to be honest!

The macrovision signal is embedded in the video signal this can be removed with a simple additional circuit and there are plenty of inexpensive pre built circuits available. with macrovision removed you could rip even sky box office movies to your pc with a tv in card in perfect condition. i suggest you use google fuzzlepop im not goings to make it any easyer for you.
