Thread: Shuttle Columbia

  1. #1
    Anyone heard about Columbia yet?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/2716369.stm

I hope they find the astronauts. Apparently a foam brick fell from the fuel tank on the wing and knocked off some heat tiles.....

Reminds me of a line I heard in a film (I think it was Armageddon): "The most advanced ship ever built by the lowest bidder".

I just found out that Columbia was the first shuttle ever launched and should probably have been retired a while back.

    Terrible News.

But you have to also feel sorry for the 3 still up in space.

    Thanks

    Yep.

At the end of the day though, you have to feel sorry for anyone who has lost someone, just because thye went in a spectacular way it doesn't make them any different to anyone else who dies (If that sounds harsh and cold it's not meant to be). The small mercy is that at Mach 18 they aren't going to have felt much at all.
