I've had a glance at it,,, and dare I say its very "HELM" like in its approach at configuring the server with its "specific" roles

A reboot or shutdown always makes me laugh... you have to give it a reason / description as to why you are doing that. Cracked me up when i first saw it.

some *fun* answers get sent to M$ - especially as one of the options they "missed" was "unplanned , o/s crashed again!" !
IIS starts quite well locked down, UDDI was a pain to get installed and the "web" versions wont allow you to install SQL server etc on the same box , so although thye might have "Tried" to do a cut price version, it's really only usefull for running webservices for .net development
Overall the enterprise version seems very stable, although we still have to reboot it at least once a week ...

I don't understand why people are so against the shutdown justification. Good idea if you ask me, and I record things manually when I reboot anyway.

people are "against" it as
(1) it tries to s/mit things to m$ after reboot,
(2) it add another "level" to a shutdown - yet *MORE* questions to ask,
(3) AFAIKR it disconnects pcanywhere/vnc *BEFORE* letting you answer meaning you have a stuck machine
(4) it interferes with ups/shutdown s/ware that isnt expecting it requiring yet more upgrades/patches etc and retestig ...
all so m$ can say "96% of planned shutdown are nothing to do with us" in their next wave of adverts ...

I've had it running for about a month now and I say it's very stable.
However that shutdown justification thing annoys me no end! I just want to reboot and have to type something out ... End up normally putting 'r' into it.
I think the server 'roles' aren't too bad an idea as it stops some admins from installating a whole load of stuff that isn't needed if the server is just a web server or a DNS server.
Have to wait for the final release before making a final decision but I think that Win2k3 hosting will on the site fairly soon after it's launch (Assuming that Helm works with it ... have to test that one!)
