Google Checkout? So far? good or average

Now that its been out for a few weeks or so has anyone actual implemented it as a form of paying for hosting products and services?

How have you found it compares with Paypal and the other grownup payment processors?

I've been offering it as an alternative way for customer with smaller invoices to pay.

So far, so good - good take up rate from customers, speedy transferal of funds. I'm not in a situation where I'm likely to ever get charge-backs, so I couldn't comment on that side of things.

Personally recommend for sellers to use Google Checkout, all payments fraud protected, compare to PayPal.

I used it the other day to buy a new rubbish bin. Very slick interface, all worked well. And got £10 off which can't be bad.

You spent over £30 on a rubbish bin (I just use the floor)?

I've been using it for some payments by manually invoicing, seems OK so far. Havnt integrated it as yet but I'm sure that will come later...

Integration looks a bit stressful, going to have a play later this week!

Its not bad, if youre selling dedi's or a VPS for over £30, your customer will get £10 off which is always a good thing. Ive also heard the fees are lower. Can anyone tell me if it works via direct bank transfer? Or do your funds go into an online pot like paypal?

Or not...... You might want to check out the google forum for your free £10 offer.

Payments should go into your bank account at the interval you've set, theres no real middle "account" except for bank limbo land

We used it for one of our clients, worked quite well... Sent the invoice from their web-interface doobery. Only problem is, there's no option to set the amount of VAT charged. I believe without declaring the VAT amount, the credit-card charges when they come in including VAT. I could be wrong of course!

Apart from that, I like it

google checkout does look to be pretty good I have signed up with them as another payment option and with the current free offer an no processing fees until 2008 is good!

VAT can be added but it is only via API integration from what i have read?

Anyone else having problems with payouts?

At the dayjob its taken nearly 2 months to get sorted and we had a payout go through yesterday. I've also had some problems with an order from ValueMedia who are claiming they are having the same issues too.

I see it made TheRegister a while ago but I would've expected most of it to be sorted by now.

Unfortunately I'm sure you can simple get a fraud payment by google checkout, while it's very difficult if you accept paypal payments just from paypal verified members.

I know this is a bit of an old topic, but I just started using GC to accept payments, and so far the process is really nice. Granted I've only got a few months left for free processing, but all else aside, I've had no issues with receiving payments at all... It's just nice and smooth =)
