Thread: Which PHP Accelerators do you support on shared hosting

Hi Guys,

I did post this on WHT a while ago, but would like to get your feed back etc too...

I am interested which PHP accelerators you support on your shared hosting services by default, although I have also added the option to show that you would also support any that your clients required.

I would expect that most hosting companies already support Zend and Ioncube, and would like to think that the accelerators would also be supported as required.

All comments etc welcomed!!

Never been requested by a client and as a consequence we don't support it on shared hosting.

I'd have thought clients requiring this level of functionality would be co-locating or on dedicated hardware or some other managed type service?

OK Supported as "requested" by the user who *requires* it

I'd think many normal shared users and possibly more so resellers, might need these, since commercial PHP based software is often encoded, I know of different users on shared hosting and reselling that use software that is encoded - a simple example would be something like Kayako.

We support Zend and Ioncube on our cPanel servers.

If a customer asked for something else we would look at it but it would probably be suggested they look at a VPS.

I've found alot of paid apps are encoded in Zend/Ioncube so would be surprised if any shared hosting provider didn't have it available out of the box.

Zend, IonCube and APC PHP Cache.

Users can load their required loaders as needed in their php.ini.

System wide seems to be flaky on cpanel and never stays working for very long.

Thanks for the feed back guys, not really a surprise to see Zend and Ioncube up at the top as already being supported.

Ed, was Sourceguardian requested by a client, or did you need it yourself? I just wondered - I really like the look of SourceGuardian (from a programmers PoV)
