lol, yes it is, look under your SSL manager link in WHM, also click on "Install an SSL Certificate and Setup the Domain"

Bear in mind the primary reason to even have a SSL certificate is to prove that the site owner has been verified. The fact that a SSL cert facilitates secure communication between a browser and server is what the majority of people think its main purpose is.
We were tempted to offer shared SSL once - we decided against it for the possible problems it can cause in terms of non-validation of the site.

The problem with CPanel Shared SSL is the half assed way it does it, relying on Apache UserDirs functionality so that it's accessed in the form of:
https://secure.domain.com/~username
Which presents a couple of problems:
1) Data transfer gets counted against secure.domain.com not the site being accessed
2) The site has to use relative links to images and other pages as absolute links will mess up
Personally, we give shared SSL space on a sub-domain, so we can count bandwidth and users don't have to make sure their sites are coded with relative links.
Thank you,

So how do you offer the shared SSL against the subdomain ?
Jim
The easy answer is to create the sub-domain account in WHM. You can also do it by modifying httpd.conf.Originally Posted by jcarey

How do we do it? We just create an alias for the account in the vhost, for the secured sub domain that uses the wildcard.

Karl,
I'm very interested in Hsphere, but I'm assuming there is a fairly steep learning curve compared to CPanel/WHM - and a need for more hardware.
It's not too bad, admitedly it does work very differently from CPanel, but IMHO that's only a good thing.

Will maybe ask more in another thread then![]()
Sometimes the cabundle file doesn't get installed properly so you might have to go into the httpd.conf file yourself and modify it up so that it is right. Then restart ssl services.
The other obscure problem is setting the user to "nobody" when you set up the SSL certiicate in WHM. When I first starting using cpanel, that was surely a pickle.
