    Joovili Discontinued

Not sure if this is the place but thought i'd post it here anyway ;-) I have a few clients that run Joovili:

    Monday 11th January 2010

I would like to thank those who posted in our forum poll in regards to making Joovili open source.

I am aware not everyone took part, but the voting was very close.

However, after careful consideration and even though we would have preferred Joovili to live on, we have decided "not" to go open source.

We have also come to the decision of discontinuing the Joovili software as we are no longer able to support or maintain it.

The discontinuation of the Joovili software will come into affect on Friday 15th January 2010
After this date, no new orders will be taken and the main website will be closed.

The clients area and forum will remain open until a later date.

We will continue to provide support via email (support@joovili.com) until a later date.

Quick fixes will still be provided (if any) until a later date.

All clients will receive an unencoded, non-restricted, multi-domain, unbranded license in due course.

However as previously mentioned, Joovili being discontinued does not affect the Joovili software being copyrighted material, therefore we still hold the copyright/ownership.

Terms and conditions are to remain the same, you may not redistribute OR sell any of Joovili's content.

We would like to thank everyone for their support throughout our time here. And we wish everyone the very best.

It's not going open source and is being discontinued but they are releasing the unencoded code. 'Quick fixes will still be provided (if any) until a later date' - what does that mean? Later date = tomorrow? next week?

My personal opinion is that they should have gone opensource so that people are free to patch any issues found in the unencoded code that they are releasing to the 'milw0rm' community. I personally see this as a big security risk and feel the vendor has let their paying customers down in a very big way.

I was one of the main contributors to the project, doesn't suprise me they are doing this in the slightest. The project just stagnated and hasn't improved since they moved to version 3 and is so far behind other scripts of it's kind.
