I live by Dreamweaver. I used to use FP but then I downloaded DW and fell in love with it <img src="images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />.

The code/design mode rocks and makes ASP/PHP about 1,000,000x easier but I can't stand Fireworks and have to use Photoshop for designing images, etc.

Also never got the hang of Freehand.

I started out with Front Page when DW was in it's early days and I picked up some really bad habits that I've tried to knock out of my work since I converted to DW, which was really hard to get used to but it's brilliant now.

I usually start a design in Adobe Photoshop then slice it up and bring it into DW where I make everything look right then take it over to Edit Plus (editplus.com) and add all the PHP coding I need to add.

I've been using Dreamweaver MX a bit recently. Frontpage does not even begin to compare.

    Agreed,

It is a lot better for dynamic webpages than before

but it does need a big monitor to really appreciate all its extra functionality

    thanks

True, but then as a designer is a large monitor not a mandatory requirement ?

We use the iiyama VM Pro 512s here. Truly an excellent image.

I would agree a large good quality monitor is pretty essential. I have a NEC FE950 19" (considering getting a 2nd for a dual monitor setup - gonna need a reinforced desk though as they weight a ton!) - you get lots more space to work with for all those fireworks palletes etc.

    And playing games is more enjoyable too <img src="images/smilies/tongue.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Stick Out Tongue" class="inlineimg" />

    Smile

It never ceases to amaze me when people spend ££££ on crazy spec PC's and then skimp on the monitor and keyboard/mouse - y'know, the bits that you have to actually interact with !

Consider this - the monitors we use are something like £600. They have a 5 year guarantee and I daresay would last longer but even at 5 years thats probably 2/3 different PCs you'll have.....

funny you mention the gaming - any of you lot UT'ers or RTCW fans ? We do tonnes of these.....

    Hehe yup - RTCW is pretty fun.  <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smilie" class="inlineimg" />

Must say I'm a DF:LW guy personally though...

    Skimp on Monitors..  <img src="images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smilie" class="inlineimg" />

    What ever do you mean.

My Amd1800XP with DDR2700 and geforce3 etc etc on my nice 4 year old dell 15" monitor with minor screen burn and shadowing and loose case

    LOL

Anyways, i am still a counterstrike fan, i dont like RTCW as i cant see who is who.

    Thanks

I have to agree HomeSite is an ideal package to me. I used to be a FrontPage user in the dark old days though

Dreamweaver for sure! the only reason Frontpage even exists is because it was one of the first of its kind, and also because of the brand name behind it... personally i dont think Frontpage is all its cracked up to be.
Sorry but the reason that Frontpage exists is because a company called Vermeer Technologies Inc came up with version 1 and then Micro$oft bought Vermeer (http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/1996/jan96/vrmeerpr.asp). Hence _VTI_ in the folder names.

oh shi** - first post here and i'm disagreeing with someone - sorry will try to be more behaved.

    Cheers
