Thread: Web site builders available for purchase & download?

I've been looking around at many other hosts the past couple of weeks and a lot of them offer web based "website builder" software. Most of them look bespoke, but there are so many out there I doubt each hosts has the time and/or money to write their own. I have had a look around to purchase and download (to integrate into our own site) a site builder "web application", but not had any luck yet. Has anyone come across what I am looking for and any idea how much they would cost?

Granted, I could build my own (I am also a VB programmer), but I don't really have the time or money to purchase/build templates to integrate into the system. I assume it would be more cost effective to purchase a pre-built system which comes with a number of templates (but of course with the ability to add your own downloadable templates relatively easily).

Site studio is a brill product, you can use it even if your propper dumb or know nothing about HTML also generates flash too which is nice.

There is one enclosed with Fantastico Deluxe, however you have to pay a monthly fee i think for the licence. its called Sitebuilder PRO

I was interested in Sw-Soft site builder, http://www.sw-soft.com/en/products/sitebuilder/ but had heard it was a complete nightmare to get up and running.

Has anybody installed it? What are customers opinions on it?

I would really be interested to know if many people actually use the site builders available.

SWsoft SiteBuilder's fine ... I've got it installed on about 7-8 customer servers and regularly perform admin work for other providers on it. The upgrade from v1 -> v2 is a bit buggy but for a straightforward install you'll be fine. You get 30 day installation support free anyway if you go direct. If you don't, check that your provider will support you.

(all on Linux, I've no idea about the new Windows release!)
