Plesk for Windows 7.5 - anyone upgraded to it?
Hi,
A client of ours has a server with Plesk for Windows 7.0.3 on it.
He was asking about upgrading to 7.5, but I have heard there are a lot of problems with doing this - basically don't bother unless you want to rebuild the server because it will probably go wrong.
Is this still the case or have they sorted out this mess?
I don't want to advise the client to go for it and have them crying when the server needs to be rebuilt
Has anyone here tried this upgrade and if so, did it work?

I'd suggest checking out plesk forums for the best idea of this as there's few PleskWin users in the UK. Typically I'd suggest holding back until the first 2 or 3 patches are released before upgrading. If you have a support contract with SWsoft, or are a certified partner, you'll be safer as they can fix issues for you -- but to be safe I'd hold back a little while.

how long does it usually take for SWSoft to release patches from a new release, might sound like a stupid question.. but is it usually a relatively quick thing or is it a few months down the line..?

It varies a lot, and I only know Linux schedule currently. Your rep or support should be able to tell you. Are you using Plesk7.5 yet? I'm considering trialling it along with Virtuozzo Windows.

There is already a patch for 7.5. Plesk themselves seem to recommend installing it on a clean server. Even then it can be a little tweaky.

I know this is something quite old now, but as my first post I may as well be useful!
Dont upgrade from 7.0.x to 7.5.3 or anything less, you will cause alot of problems especially if using MailEnable Pro and it will take a long time to upgrade.
7.5.4 is due out this week, and they have resdesigned the upgrade process which should sort these issues out
Cheers,
Paul
