What software do I need?

I am looking for a new host but after talking to my boss at work he has said I can have one of the old servers (unknown spec) and have it on the lease line there. This would be great for me then I don't have to worry about space or bandwidth issues I now have.

What software do I need and how much does it cost?

My site is run on a Linux server at the moment but if I was to host it myself I think I would go back to a Win platform.
I also need mySQL.

I am a real newbie but will learn anything if I need to. This time last year I knew nothing about forums and now I own and run one

Any info is really appreciated, thank you

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it, it could well end up costing you your job, if you stick a server on your companies leased line, and you can't properly secure it, you could bring endless pain to the company, which could ultimately end in you loosing your job (Gross Negligence anyone?).
