Okay.... is this just me or has directadmins domain name expired www.directadmin.com or have they just randomly vanished into thin air

Yup, looks to have expired. These things happen but you'd think they'd have taken a little more care....

I'm sure they'll be back as soon as they pay their renewal fee with their registrar.

Reading a thread on their forums, they are aware of it and seem to be dealing with it...

But according to this: http://www.whois.sc/directadmin.com

It's up for auction :|

EDIT: It just redirects to snapnames, one of those domain sniping sites, if you want to place a "bid". As they've obviously asked for it to be renewed you won't get very far with that

These things happen, and please renember guys it takes more than a day or so (or however long it was offline for), for the domain to fall into RGP/ RHP, so no chance of anyone getting it on snapnames....

And yes, Microsoft have let passport.com, msn.com and hotmail.co.uk (which was caught by one of the forum members), in the past.

I gather the registrar had charged and been paid for the domain but the renewal hadn't taken place.

Still 1st class software IMHO.
