Ah well if hc doesn’t do what it says on the tin will drop them for helm, ouch just paid $300 for hc backup software em.
I know hc has a new interesting backup feature, its public on the hc forum so i can say more, basically hc v7 can do a live backup, one click it can duplicate itself to a new server, so if your moving hardware it can do it on the fly while the current server is running, useful for backups to.
I also think they have integrated godaddy as another domain provider but im not 100% on that. Last time i spoke to the techs they were looking for a decent site builder to integrate they have found a couple but wouldn’t work well with hc, i put forward my suggestion the same software as godaddy use website tonight which they can get from the same place as godaddy did.
One thing i have never liked about hc its the gui, its never been that friendly take a look
http://www.dhosting.co.uk/admin user demouser pass demouser its no where near as nice as helm but from what i have seen the new version looks nice and should allow for easy editing of the look and feel of hc.
I think the major difference between helm and hc is support, hc you get 24x6 support at no extra cost, helm you have to pay, ive not had any direct experience with helm so im not sure how buggy it is, install issues etc, hc isnt to bad you just get a couple of machine specific issues sometimes, but they release a hotfix every month between the 17-20th. If you have a suggestion that can be implemented quickly they do it for the next hotfix and send you the fix / update before everyone else
Anyways that’s my rant over and done with, would be interested to know what you guys think of the helm install and general use, bugs etc.
