Web Filter

Hi,
We have a client who is looking to install some sort of web filtering/monitoring software on their windows server. Does anyone know any good software for this?

My Initial thought would be ISA. How many users is it for?

Its on very small scale IIRC - about 10/15?
I'd have throught ISA was a little too complicated.

I don't like ISA. I've deployed both an ISA server for 150 users and a smoothwall box for 300. The smoothwall box wins hands down for functionality, speed and reliability.

It could be worth taking a look at using a pc with Linux or smoothwall on.

Depends which ISA server, we've used it in environments with 1,000 concurrent sessions, got to love the cache!

Forget the Windows server. Sonicwall TZ170 with Sonicwall Content Filtering Service. The TZ170 with a 25 node licence should cost around £295 and about £225 for one year's CFS subscription.

smoothwall sucks

i'll back up that statement by telling you that i used to be one of the lead developers and left the project as the others refused to fix any of the gaping security issues

Smoothwall express or Corporate Guardian? Or both?

I think its a fantastic piece of software from my point of view which is different from your's as a developer. Excellent support as well.

When I last looked at m0n0wall it didn't have the manageability CP offered.

I'd recommend pfSense over m0n0wall any day

Much more functionality.
