Not sure how you can give it 4/5 for functionallity when it can't support the platform that hosts the vast majority of web sites, but that's just my opinion. When compared to HSphere some of it looks a little under developed, yeah Helm is excellant on the back end service distribution and setup - but that doesn't make it easier on customers, which is what it's all about really.

They say it's gonna support bind and sendmail in a few months with a complete linux version soon.

....but it does what it says on the box - and does it very well from what i can see. It doesn't pretent to offer Linux functionality but is (at the mo) designed for Windows so surely you can't mark it down for something missing that it doesn't even try to do ??

I suppose in a way that's true, but when 60%+ of the market runs something else.
The Linux port relies on .NET running reliably on the mono project, so not native Linux, but still not bad.

hehe, thanks. Thought I'd start nice and tame, work my way up to playing devils advocate
Only really started reading them this last week or two because I've been using webmail since my laptop pretty much killed itself, so it's either read them, or loose track of where I got to in my inbox

Fairplay. Tell you what though, some of the guys at Nominet (PAB, CoM etc) have the patience of saints to put up with some of the people that post on there. Some of them just argue for arguments sake it would seem. Still... i do find it kind of interesting to follow - mostly. I only really ever post on the odd occasion (although for some strange reason i'm in the top 30 posters which is odd).

But the *nix control panel market is somewhat crowded now.
The Win2k CP market though only had a few real contenders - I think Helm will soon easily be the most popular.
Andy.

I agree.... Windows needed a decent multi server control panel.

There were developments for linux for version 3 already (BIND specifically). They were just never released.
Helm developments continue as ever.. it only gets better.
