    CubeCart

    Hi,
A friend has asked me to evaluate CubeCart for his eCommerce website. I have done some initial digging and so far it looks ok, but I just wanted to ask if anyone here has used it/is using it, or if they had evaluated it in the past? If so please let me know what you thought of it and what problems/limitations you came across.

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Matthew Parks

    Hello Matthew,

We use it for around 8 of our own clients, plus in total we host about 150 installations and have done a huge amount of work on it for extra features etc.

Out of the box, the current version does the job (very cost effectively!) however some quite important features aren't fully developed. The new version which will be with us this year, will make the product so much more competitive. It's developed full-time in the UK, and support contracts are available. We have seen it used as an online brochure system (without the cart functions), an online booking system for people to book tickets for events/courses, and for stores with a few thousand products. All scenarios it handles well.

There is a very active forum behind it, and there are a lot of 3rd party mod's that can be purchased which can add desired functions & features. However, a stack of them will be included in the next version.

A couple of minor revisions ago, it udnerwent a GulfTech Security audit and lots was added to make it extremely robust, and so now I would say it's one of the most secure shopping-cart scripts available.

There's a load of included gateways & shipping solutions. For UK Merchants there's the choice of Protx (the form veresion), PayPal/(Pro), Worldpay etc etc.

Feel free to PM me if you want some examples and any more insight. We've been using it for our e-comm customers solely since June 2005 and can't say we've found an affordable solution which is as feature rich and which is developed in the UK.

    Hope this helps,

    William
