Is this based on your own custom control panel or a heavily modified commercially available system?

Hi James,

We've developed everything in house. We explored the possibility of using an "off the shelf" control panel with some clever workarounds but it wasn't practical and would have meant we had to make compromises in our spec.

We've also found over the years that the popular hosting panels, including the ones we currently use for existing customers can sometimes seem counter-intuitive to clients meaning a steeper learning curve for new users and a higher support load for us!

In addition, developing our own system from scratch means that we can easily add features which clients request without relying on 3rd party developers.

Do you have any plans to offer global load balanced hosting accounts/servers any time in the future?

Are you talking about a CDN where requests will be served from the closest node (ie. US visitors get a US server, UK visitors get a UK server)? If so, this is something we are considering for the future but it won't be available for a while.

I'm talking about having the cluster in more than one data centre, not all inside the same DC as when it goes down, everything is down.

Ah yes, that's something which we'll be implementing much sooner.

At present we've got all critical servers and network equipment with dual PSUs, one on the datacentre's UPS and one on our own. We also have our own dark fibre to another datacentre.
